The National Executive Council, NEC, meeting of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has been suspended indefinitely following the death of the former ASUU president on Tuesday Nov 2013 at a fatal car accident .
The meeting was initially scheduled to hold on Wednesday Nov 2013 at Bayero University, Kano,, but the ASUU National President, Nasiru Fagge, has revealed that it has been postponed.
The reason for its suspension is because of the death of Professor Festus Iyayi, who was a former president of ASUU. Iyayi died in a car crash allegedly caused by the convoy of the Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada on Tuesday, while travelling for the NEC meeting.
Several members of the executive council from various universities from all over the country, were already in Kano for the meeting, where they were expected to deliberate on the resolutions of various chapters of ASUU, on whether or not the strike should be called off.
