Latest TRansfer News: Comments Give Hope for Luis Suarez Transfer

Arsenal continue to be in the market for a striker, so it only makes sense that they remain in the battle for one of the best scorers in Europe.

Earlier in the month, the English club made a £30 million bid for Luis Suarez that was rejected by Liverpool. To make matters worse, manager Brendan Rodgers recently stated that his best player was not for sale, according to Dominic King of the Daily Mail.

However, his latest comments certainly leave an opening for a possible move within the league.

Jack De Menezes of the Independent quotes Rodgers, who said this about Suarez:

He's a player that obviously is talked about and there's been a been a lot of speculation over the course of the off-season. But the reality is that he's a player that's very much valued at Liverpool.

Unless there's any sort of offer that comes in which is anywhere near his value then there's nothing to consider and we haven't had that.

Obviously, he is not in any hurry to get rid of the world-class striker. However, he also stated that "every player has a value and a worth," which means that Suarez could be sold at the right price.

Fortunately for Arsenal, De Menezes also reports that the club is "expected to return with an improved offer" in the coming days. The squad will certainly hope that it is enough to convince Liverpool to let him go.
This will not be too easy with Suarez recently joining the squad in Australia for preseason matches. Phil Thomas of The Sun reported that the player will meet with management to discuss his future, which is important to do with a projected £40 million bid from Arsenal incoming.

Rodgers will certainly do his best to convince the player that Merseyside is the best place for him to be. The manager knows that it will be a challenge to reach top-four status without the elite scorer, and his job could be on the line sooner or later.

However, it might be out of his hands before long. Arsenal can offer the ability to play in Champions League after the club finished in fourth place in the English Premier League last season. Adding Suarez could help them contend for a league title.

As a result, the Gunners need to start being more aggressive and make a legitimate offer for the striker.

Suarez finished second in the league last season with 23 goals, while no one on Arsenal had more than 15. The departure of Robin van Persie left a giant hole in the offense that could not be replaced by Olivier Giroud or Lukas Podolski. The Liverpool man can fill that void.
This addition would give Arsenal one of the best attacks in the league and one that could compete on a domestic and continental level. After a number of trophy-less years, they must make a move of this quality to please the fans.

It is not usually Arsene Wenger's style to go after a high-priced player, but the manager promised during the season that things would change, via Kevin Palmer of ESPN UK. So far, the transfer season has been much of the same.

Arsenal need to make a large bid that could convince Rodgers to sell Suarez. Otherwise, they are simply wasting everyone's time.
