Some couple of weeks back, a University of Calabar lecturer by the name Dr Godwin Iwatt, was shot in his office by unknown Gunmen suspected to be students of the school. Few weeks after, the Lecturer was found dead. The latest report has it that one of the perpetrators of the act has been arrested. The Police revealed that a final year student in the Department of Microbiology, UNICAL has been arrested in connection with the death of the lecturer after he was traced with the phone number he used to send threat massages to the lecture who is the exam officer in the department. Following his arrest, the suspect confessed to the crime he committed with three others and admitted that he killed the lecturer for refusing to clear his backlog of carryovers for the courses he failed to enable him proceed for National Youth Service Corps alongside other members of his class. When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Hogan Bassey, confirmed the report and said investigation was still ongoing on the matter.
