At least 10 people have been killed in a US drone attack in a Pakistani tribal region just hours after a similar attack claimed the lives of at least six others in the northwestern region.
Local media sources said the drones fired eight missiles on four houses in Dande Darpa Khel village in North Waziristan in the early hours of Thursday.
The attack came after another strike that targeted a house and a vehicle in the northwestern tribal region on Wednesday night left at least six people dead.
In the first raid, the US drone hit Dargah Mandi village in North Waziristan, located about 10 kilometers (six miles) west of Miranshah.
The United States has been frequently targeting Pakistan's tribal regions during the past years.
Washington claims its drone strikes target militants, although casualty figures clearly indicate that Pakistani civilians are the main victims of the non-UN-sanctioned attacks.
The slaughter of Pakistani civilians, including women and children, as a result of US drone strikes has strained ties between Islamabad and Washington.
Pakistani officials have also complained to the US administration on numerous occasions.
The United Nations and several human rights organizations have identified the US as the world's number one user of "targeted killings," largely due to its drone attacks in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The drone strikes have triggered massive anti-US demonstrations across Pakistan to condemn the violation of their national sovereignty.
