At the First Nigerian Beer & Health Symposium held recently in Lagos, experts from medical sciences, food technology, lifestyle, nutrition and related professions talked on the health and other benefits of beer.
Supported by Nigerian Breweries, the unique
symposium held inside the sprawling Iris & Jazmine Halls of Eko Hotel &
Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos and was chaired by eminent culture and
performance scholar, Prof. Kole Omotosho, a professor of Drama
at the Department of Drama, University of Stellenbosch, Cape Town, South
Africa.
The symposium featured an array of top
celebrities in attendance, including Mo Abudu (Talk Show Host
and CEO of EbonyLife TV), Ruth Osime (Editor of ThisDayStyle),
Dr. Larry Izamoje, (Founder/President of Brilla FM), Dr. Olaokun
Soyinka (Ogun State Commissioner for Health) and his wife, Lola
Soneyin, Ehi Braimah (CEO Neo Media), Adedeji
Awatt and O. A. Adebayo both of Lagos State Ministry
of Health, Dr. Dosumu of Clearline HMS, Dr. Bisi
Abiola, Isaack and Nneka Moses (Goge
Africa), Dr. Lanre Adeleye, Olufemi Awoyemi (CEO
Proshere), Ololade Bamidele, and aide of former Ekiti State
Governor, Kayode Fayemi, Tayo Parkes of CPMS,
Dr. Fakorede Olajide of University of Lagos, Oba
Adedeji Onagoruwa, Omoba Yemi Odusote, Dan
Esiekpe, CEO of IMS Advertising, Prof. E. N.
Maduagwu, of FCTDI NEO, and Prof. Olugbenga Ogunmoyela
of Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State among others.
They proved with empirical evidence from
recent scientific research & studies that beer, when consumed in
moderation, is not only a healthy drink, but with lots of nutritional and other
natural benefits for the human body, health and wellbeing.
However, the boffins insisted that for consumers to reap the multiple benefits derivable from drinking beer, it must be consumed in moderation.
